How does my project use or challenge conventions? In the second scene of my project, the main characters Darien and Izel are in a Library, and thus they have to whisper their dialog. Libraries in real life follow a rule of silence so people who come can get work done. Another convention I used was in my Third scene which took place in a car, Darien removed the key from the ignition before getting out to save gas. Usually people remove the key from the ignition to restrain the car from continuously running, thus saving gas and money. How does my project represent social groups or issues? In my project, there is a representation of a girl named Althea that has an abusive life at home and gets bullied at school by her peers. She eventually commits herself, represent real-life issues. Some people don't get along, especially when they don't know the situation at home. In my project's context, Darien and Izel and their friend group- Althea's peers, didn't understand...
Script Annotations for the day of filming

So for the day of filming I made foreshadowing insinuations on Izel's passing: In scene one , an insinuation is made as Izel says "nothing can go wrong", hinting at the fact that something could go wrong. And she also says in Scene 1, "We're not going to die". Notice how Izel is the only one mentioning things about death and the "fact" that nothing can go wrong. In scene two , Izel makes another insinuation about escaping, as she says "Simple, If we get caught, we make a run for it and hide." Darien asked her the question: What do we do if we get caught?, and it shows that the way she answered she's not going to make it out of the school with Darien alive. These are just a few insinuations I made in the script that I wanted to discuss. In my next blog,

Today, me and my group partner filmed the third and final scene of Darien and Izel sitting outside the school in a car debating. What they were debating about isn't relevant to the film, but toward the end of the debate they started talking about Althea. They started bullying her in the conversation and then, they pull up in the front of the school. The shots that were used in this scene: Medium close up Close up Full Shot Over the shoulder Reverse Shot This blog is shorter than most because I'm trying to finish my CCR, but that is what my next blog is about so it'll be a little longer.

The Past: The hassle to get actors for the film was serious. Time was running out, so I decided to pick one upperclassman, Chrishanna A., and one underclassman, Jessie Lee. On the Saturday I was planning to film, Jessie didn't come nor did Chrissy so I planned a mission. My mission was to retrieve the scripts from those two and find new actors. I started coming afterschool during aftercare to find actors to film, but I ended up keeping Jessie and replacing Chrissy with my best friend Shekinah Wells. Now: I've filmed Scene 1 and 2 so far and I wanted to film the third scene of them in a car on Saturday, Apirl 9th: But, Jessie wasn't able to come but Shekinah was. So, I decided to film on Monday during study hall, and I hope it goes well. Blogs are a bit short due to filming, but my next blog will be about my experience with the third scene.

So, on the 5th of April, I film the scene of Izel in her room talking to Darien on the phone. Even though the script only says Darien is outside as it says here: I forgot to add it in the script that Izel was in her room as well. But when me and my partner Mack Lafrance were filming that scene for the first time, we had fun because we kept making jokes about the script and after that everything suddenly became fun and funny. The first scene camera shots: 1. Darien was at a Full Shot for most of the scene and move toward the camera into a medium shot. 2. Izel was at Medium Shot, but during the film the camera will transition to a Over the Shoulder Shot. Overall, so far, it's going well we just have 2 or 3 more scenes to go, and hopefully it goes well. In my next blog I will talk about how I filmed Darien's part and how I had to switch characters in my film.
Filming the Test Shot of the First Scene

Well on April 2nd, which was a Saturday, I film the test shot of Dairen in the first scene of my film because the people that were supposed to be in my film didn't come on Saturday. Despite that, I plan to film every A day in study hall if I can and/or film in the afternoon at school and edit. Testing is coming up soon so lockdown in study hall is 5 hours. I know this will be rough, but I'm sure I'll pass. Anxiety is slowly overcoming me because of the rough start to media studies, and yet if we started earlier everything would be ok.
