The Rough draft of my Storyboard

 Hello everyone, I know it's been a while since I've posted my apologies, I've been working on my Storyboard, Shot List, and Script rough draft for my film Althea. My drawing skills aren't the best, but me and my partner understand what we want occurring in each scene. Here it is: 


(Paper 1) Boxes 1-3

The first 3 scenes are about two best friends, Darien and Izel, thinking about reporting an old incident that rumored to happen at their old high school, Lauderhill 6-12, to win 1,000 dollars and best writers award. In the first scene, we see here Darien is pacing back and forth outside of his house talking to Izel about the entry of the news report contest. Scene two is an insert shot of the contest paper, implying that it is going to be a major narrative in the film. In scene 3 or box 3, I wanted to make it look like Izel scheduled to meet up at the library and research the incident that allegedly occurred approximately 5 years ago.

(Paper 1) Boxes 4-6

Scene 4 shows Darien and Izel headed to Lauderhill 6-12. Scene 5 shows Darien attempting to "break into the school" with a lock pick, but Izel finds a open door. Scene 6 shows Darien and Izel entering the school, inspecting and taking notes.



(Paper 2) Boxes 1-3

Scene 1 is an eyeline match of Darien noticing the papers on the floor, shown in Scene 2 is the insert of what he's looking at. Those papers on the floor insinuates that the rumor may be true. In scene 3, they hear a thud upstairs and go check it out. Scene 4 they tip toe upstairs to see what's going on. Scene 5 Izel creeks open the door and she sees a girl in a white outfit with mess hair and in Scene 6 the unknown women snaps her neck.


In my next blogs, I will summarize the 3rd Storyboard Paper and give a sneak peak of My Script and Shot list.

New Studio Binder Discovery: Varieties of Camera Angles

 I haven't been posting much, but that's because my Spring Break was busy. Despite the business, I decided to watch a Studio binder video to keep me up to date and maybe learn some new things, and upon searching I found some information on camera angles from this video: Some camera angles that appeared in the video such as High angle and Low angle I already know of. But the other angles I don't know of are: Eye Level- When your subject is at eye-level Hip Level- when camera is roughly waist- high Knee Level- when camera is about as low as your subject's knees Ground Level- When camera's height is on ground level with your subject Shoulder Level- camera angle that is as high as your subject's shoulders Dutch Angle Shot (I've heard of it)- the camera is slanted to one side Overhead Shot- from above, looking down on your subject Aerial Shot- an angle captured from up high (e.g. Helicopter, Drone, etc.) The Knee level may be an angle I will use in my film. Scene 1 of Althea: Outside Darien's House/ Izel in her Room

 So, on the 5th of April, I film the scene of Izel in her room talking to Darien on the phone. Even though the script only says Darien is outside as it says here:   I forgot to add it in the script that Izel was in her room as well. But when me and my partner Mack Lafrance were filming that scene for the first time, we had fun because we kept making jokes about the script and after that everything suddenly became fun and funny.  The first scene camera shots: 1. Darien was at a Full Shot for most of the scene and move toward the camera into a medium shot. 2. Izel was at Medium Shot, but during the film the camera will transition to a Over the Shoulder Shot. Overall, so far, it's going well we just have 2 or 3 more scenes to go, and hopefully it goes well.  In my next blog I will talk about how I filmed Darien's part and how I had to switch characters in my film.

Script Annotations for the day of filming

 So for the day of filming I made foreshadowing insinuations on Izel's passing: In scene one , an insinuation is made as Izel says "nothing can go wrong", hinting at the fact that something could go wrong. And she also says in Scene 1, "We're not going to die". Notice how Izel is the only one mentioning things about death and the "fact" that nothing can go wrong. In scene two , Izel makes another insinuation about escaping, as she says "Simple, If we get caught, we make a run for it and hide." Darien asked her the question: What do we do if we get caught?, and it shows that the way she answered she's not going to make it out of the school with Darien alive. These are just a few insinuations I made in the script that I wanted to discuss. In my next blog,
